Grunge music is part of my history. How about you?
It's 1993. I'm driving to McDonald's on my Grade 12 lunch break, in the back of my friend's friend's parents' station wagon, which she gets to borrow 2 days a week. There's no air conditioning, and no conversation. All the windows are down, the stereo is cranked, and we are all pretending to be Chris Cornell.
The 90s were my freedom years.
Were they yours? Or maybe they were important to your parents? Do you just really dig the genre?
I dug deep into the history of grunge music and gathered 30 tunes into a guided listening experience. You'll find tracks that show the early punk influences, tracks that were recorded in someone's basement, tracks that are iconic, and tracks that are so deep I couldn't make a playlist without them.
