These Halloween cupcake liners were too cute to scrunch.

I was browsing Pinterest for dollar store craft ideas when I came across some really cute ways to make ornaments with colorful cupcake liners.

I'm disabled. I can't wander stores looking for inspiration, so I'm incredibly grateful for Pinterest for ideas and inspiration.

I'm also grateful that my local Instacart delivers from Dollarama.

I chose some Halloween-printed liners essentially sight unseen.

When they arrived, I knew right away I could not do the craft I'd planned.

I'd planned to make flowers where the ruffled sides of the liners were the star.

But clearly, these cupcake liners were begging for the bottoms to be the star.

Not gonna lie, I did not know where to go from there.

Pinterest did not have inspiration for featuring the cute bottoms of cupcake wrappers.

I'm not sure I *love* where I eventually went, but it succeeds in featuring the cute faces, it was easy and fun, and it's cute.

So I'm happy.

First, I turned each cupcake liner inside out so the printed bottom popped forward instead of sitting under the liner. Then I gently flattened each one, keeping some of the ruffle around the outside.

At this point I wasn't thinking about writing a blog post, so I didn't take a photo.

Oops.

Next, I grabbed a styrofoam ring from Dollarama. Starting in one spot, I hot glued the cupcake liners to the front of the ring, overlapping them as I worked my way around.

I had a very loose plan. I just moved the liners around until I liked where the faces landed. I tried to cover the entire front, and I tried to make sure nothing stuck too far past the back of the ring so it would still hang flat.

When I was about three-quarters of the way around, I realized all those white ruffled edges were blending together.

So I grabbed an orange alcohol marker and ran it along the outer edges of each cupcake liner. The orange helped separate the layers and gave the whole thing a little more definition.

I also snapped a photo of the styrofoam ring as I was finishing up gluing.

Then I finished gluing the remaining liners around the ring.

Once everything was glued and inked, I made a big hanging loop from wired Halloween ribbon I also got at Dollarama and attached it to the top.

And this is it now:

Is this something I could put in a store and sell?

Fork no.

But the little mummy faces survived the crafting process completely unscrunched.

Oh, and it occupied me for at least an hour.

And I didn't even burn myself with the glue gun.

And it was cheap.

Plus, I still have more liners and styrofoam rings.

If I made another one, I might add glitter to the edges of the liners, and I'd definitely do that before gluing them down.
