You. Are. Enough.

I wrote this piece in 2022. I was ill, but not as ill as I am now. It is still very relevant.

Media tells you that you must be more, have more, strive harder, push through, have more energy, cherish each day, live in the now, notice the little things, and have good vibes only.

I'm here to tell you it's all crap.

You. Are. Enough.

In your PJs after your third nap of the day, sitting in your messy house eating frozen pizza with a fridge full of rotting vegetables, you are enough.

Running late to work and rushing home, with drive through burgers on your front seat and hours of work to do at home, you are enough.

Even if you haven't showered in a week (yay for dry shampoo).

Even if you haven't touched a vegetable in weeks (yay for supplements).

Even if you yelled at your loved ones today (yay for second chances).

Some days, we tolerate. Some days, we survive. Some days, we keep other living creatures in our care alive while we subsist off caffeine and carbs.

We aren't meant to enjoy this whole thing called life.

Your best is always the most you can give. And some days that means you don't pick up the toys or change the litter box or dive into the new book that's been waiting on your side table for months.

You. Are. Enough.
