Trust the line: A skiing metaphor
I don't ski.
I grew up in a skiing town, and I tried once or twice, but there were too many knee twists and too much snow.
After several moves that somehow all stayed adjacent to ski hills, I now live in a city that's a short drive away from a well-known ski resort.
They were having an art contest, so I dug into what I do remember about skiing and drew an entry.
I drew my piece to capture that feeling when it's just you and the snow.
Everything else falls away. You may even lose sight of where you're headed, and in that moment, you have to trust the line.
I feel like that's a pretty good metaphor for life in general.
So often we lose sight, in the moment, of where we were heading.
But we just have to keep heading there.
I know it applies to art and making things because so many times I'm in the thick of a project, with glue and glitter everywhere, and I feel like I certainly must be making mistakes.
I have to trust and keep moving forward.
And nine times out of ten, I love where the art lands.
This particular art didn't land with the resort, which means it's back in my hands to do with as I please.
So I turned my contest entry into a free printable poster.
You can click the image to download a free JPG.
And if you'd rather have an actual printed card or poster, I've got that too.
